Lawsuit Loan Dictionary/Definitions
Beacon Legal Finance has expanded our first of its kind lawsuit loan dictionary to help consumers better understand the technical aspects of lawsuit loans. In a lawsuit loan, a plaintiff receives a cash advance in exchange for paying a portion of the future cash proceeds of the plaintiff’s legal settlement. To understand this new type of consumer finance, plaintiffs need to be familiar with the terminology in both the legal and financial fields, but until now have been unable to find a single dictionary on the Internet that explained concepts and terms for both the law and finance. To make the growing litigation finance market more transparent, Beacon Legal Finance has developed and updated a free lawsuit loan dictionary as a service to the consumer. A plaintiff may access the lawsuit loan dictionary at the following link: http://www.legalfundingdictionary.com/

Here is a sample of the new terms added to the lawsuit loan dictionary:

Qui Tam Lawsuit, noun: (1) lawsuit brought by a private citizen (popularly called a "whistle blower") against a person or company who is believed to have violated the law in the performance of a contract with the government or in violation of a government regulation, when there is a statute which provides for a penalty for such violations. Qui tam suits are brought for "the government as well as the plaintiff”. This type of action is generally based on significant violations which involve fraudulent or criminal acts, and not technical violations and/or errors. Lawsuit loan example: because a plaintiff of a qui tam lawsuit is suing the defendant for defrauding the state, it is often referred to as a “whistle blower” case. See lawsuit loan, lawsuit cash advance, pre settlement funding, qui tam and lawsuit funding.

Quid Pro Quo, noun: (1) consideration, that which a person receives or is promised in return for something he/she promises, gives or does. Lawsuit loan example: the quid pro quo for a plaintiff receiving cash upfront is that the plaintiff sells an interest in a portion of the future cash proceeds of the lawsuit. See consideration, lawsuit loan, lawsuit cash advance, lawsuit funding and pre settlement funding.

Quiet Enjoyment, noun: (1) right of unimpaired use and enjoyment of real or personal property. Lawsuit loan example: if a plaintiff wants to receive a lawsuit loan for a loss of quiet enjoyment lawsuit, the plaintiff’s attorney must show the lawsuit loan company that the defendant would not allow the plaintiff to use or benefit from the use of property and the plaintiff suffered significant damages because of the defendant’s actions. See lawsuit loan, lawsuit cash advance, enjoyment, lawsuit funding and pre settlement funding.
